Origami

I practiced three different folds of origami, Japanese paper folding art.

Shadow Box of Ticket Stubs

Shadow Box of Ticket Stubs

This is an art pieces I created. It is a shadow box with a burlap background and I dyed the paper elements on the artwork in water that has tea bags in it. This is for my future home and every time I go to a movie or concert, I will put a ticket stub in the box as a keepsake.

Vintage Chalkboard

Vintage Chalkboard

I painted the board with chalkboard paint and used a stencil to paint the fish on to the chalkboard with acrylic paint. The frame is made of old wood from a barn.

Photo/Card Holder

Photo/Card Holder

I used a similar frame to the one on the chalkboard and stapled string onto the frame. I will hang this piece on the wall in my future home to display cards and photos.

Edible Art

Edible Art

This is the final product from my in class art lesson. The students will form an assembly line and pass the cupcake down the line each contributing to one part of the final edible art piece. Students learn about elements and principles of art while creating a fun edible product and learning some Social Studies content.

A Valentine for A Crab

A Valentine for A Crab

Our task was to create a valentine for something, instead of someone. The thing that I love that I decided to create a valentine for is a Maryland crab. My favorite food is Maryland crabs and one of my favorite things to do is sit a while with friends and family and pick crabs.

A Piece of The Puzzle

A Piece of The Puzzle

We received a one inch by one inch square piece of a picture. Each of us in the class had to use proportion and color to enlarge the image on to an eight inch by eight inch sheet of paper. When we finished our individual pictures, we hung them up in order on the board and created a unified picture that looks like a tiger.

Language Arts and Cartoon Sketches

Language Arts and Cartoon Sketches

We created a three part sentence that included a random subject, place, and verb. We switched the three parts of our sentences with our friends in the class. The final sentence I ended up with was "the captain was dancing in the disco lights in the cafeteria."

Hindi with Geometric Shapes

Hindi with Geometric Shapes

The geometric shape I was assigned was the octagon. I traced the geometric shape in a unified, repeating pattern onto my paper. Then I practiced some Hindi designs in each shape.

Alphabet Monsters

Alphabet Monsters

I was assigned the letter "C" so I created a C monster wearing a cap. My sentence to describe my monster says, "my name is cal and I wear a cap." I can hang these monsters along the top of the chalkboard in my future classroom.

Recycled Art

Recycled Art

We practiced crayon and drawing techniques on white paper by creating recycling posters. I melted some crayons onto the paper using an iron.

Jenna's Desert Habitat

Jenna's Desert Habitat

We practiced crayon resist with water color paintings while learning some science. We learned characteristics about various habitats and we needed to draw a representation of them. I choose to draw a desert including cacti and a sandy terrain by using different color crayon and watercolor painting over the crayon drawings.

Dino Pals

Dino Pals

We cut out several different geometric shapes and arranged them into a larger unified art piece. I created a dinosaur out of the arranged shapes and glued them together. Next, I wrote a couple sentences to describe my dinosaur.
